Installation of 450m long HAC at Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras This prestigious project was initiated by DBKL to convert an open drain into car parking lots along side Jalan Tenteram, Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. It has served the dual purpose of providing additional 300 over parking lots for people frequenting Taman Tasik Selatan, as well as improving the landscape tremendously.
The original proposal was to use short span beams. By keeping true to our motto "Reaching Out With Solutions", Hume was able to provide a better solution to the authorities and the main contractor undertaking the project by using the Hume Arch Culvert (HAC) System. HACs of 9.5m span x 3.5m height x 1.2m length were used to line the 450m long open drain. Physical installation of 376 HAC segments complete with waterproofing was completed within 1 1/2 months. The short installation period enabled the main contractor to complete the project in time for the SEA Games held in September 2001, despite inclement weather experienced during the project period.
Hume Arch Culverts are available in two different spans, i.e. 6.5m and 9.5m. Each span comes in 3 standard heights of 2.5m, 3.0m and 3.5m.
