An arch waterway bridge set up in highland terrain was constructed succesfully in December 2000 within 2 days.
"...a cost effective alternative..." The arch is a cost effective alternative to cast in-situ culverts and small span bridges. The culvert employs an arch technique utilising the soil-structure interaction effect.
The project comprised the supply up to waterproofing of the 10 arches that form the main artery route for the Brinchang-Kampung Kuala Terla Road in Cameron Highlands. Arch dimensions are 9.5m span and 3.5m height.
"...so easy to install..." The arch was so easy to install that it took a mere two days, definitely a testimony of the speedy construction of the arch system. Each arch weighs 15 tonnes and were transported up the narrow and winding hill slopes via low loaders. The arches were carried in an upright position and strapped firmly into position.
