Hume T-Wall

Hume T-Wall System

Hume T-Wall System is developed by combining the advantages of precast technology and structurally efficient Double - Tee section to provide a viable solution for high vertical retaining situation. The system consists of precast wall panels, integrally supported by an in situ or a semi-in situ base for stability and strength to withstand lateral earth forces and imposed loads.

Applications

Soil Slope Protection for :
  • Earthwork platforms
  • Roadwork embankments and approaches to interchanges / bridges
  • Banks for drainage / irrigation channels
Design Considerations
  • Reinforced concrete design to BS 8110 : The Structural Use of Concrete
  • Standard units are designed to the following loading requirements :
Type la loading Backfill height not exceeding 600mm with 30˘Xslope (Figure 1)
Type lb loading Backfill surcharge of 10kPa (Figure 2)
Type ll loading Backfill surcharge of 20kPa (Figure 3)
  • Hydrostatic pressure is eliminated by the design provision of weep holes and an external drainage system along the base on the earth side of the erected wall
  • Design can also be customized to suit special loading requirements
  • Characteristic concrete strength at 28days - Grade40
  • Concrete cover to reinforcement - 30mm
  • Backfill material : Sand or other suitable soil material subject to Engineer's approval and shall have the following characteristic :
  • Adequate protrusion of anchorage bars is allowed for to be embedded into in situ or semi-in situ base slab to secure precast wall panels in place
  • Gaps between T-wall panels are sealed by gluing strips of suitable geotextile filter material along the gaps on the earth side of the wall to prevent wash out of fines
